ROBINSON--Phyllis K. The One Club and its board of directors mourn the loss of Phyllis K. Robinson (1921-2010) who passed away at home in Manhattan, December 31. Mrs. Robinson was elected to the Copywriters Hall of Fame in 1968, now named the Creative Hall of Fame. She was the first copy chief at the newly formed advertising agency, Doyle Dane Bernbach and her work with Bill Bernbach and Bob Gage changed the face of advertising. Phyllis was articulate, intelligent and charming. She chaired many dinners at the Creative Hall of Fame and lent both grace and prestige to the evenings. She played a major role in the documentary Art & Copy, a history of creative ideas in advertising. We extend our deepest sympathy to her daughter Nancy Thompson, her nieces, Margery Cantor, Ann Jacobson, Linda Robinson and nephew, Jeffrey Robinson, her many friends, including Linda Hacker and all those friends and colleagues who knew her and loved her. Mary Warlick Chief Executive Officer The One Club http://www.oneclub.org/oc/hall-of-fame/http://www.flickr.com/photos/34174316@N00/1713753530/sizes/m/in/set-72157602645503465/http://www.ddb.com/ddblogs/creativity/thank-you-phyllis-robinson.htmlDDB helped set the template for modern advertising creative teams, pairing writers with art directors to collaborate on projects, instead of producing copy first, art second. Robinson was the first woman to run a copy department, working with art directors like Bob Gage and Helmut Krone and nurturing talented young writers like Mary Wells. Former Esquire art director George Lois, who worked for Robinson in 1959 and 1960 (and appears with her in the 2009 ad documentaryArt and Copy), declares her “the first great modern advertising writer.”
Y al final muy americano todo: THAT´S ADVERTISEMENT BABY!!!
